The “Window Connection” triptych (series of 3 paintings) is a clear example of the versatility of the encaustic medium, on MDF panels framed by the producer.
The background images have been created with a lot of patience using a special technique, in which I have used ink and water, a complex process of dispensation of the relatively thin lines to cover the entirety of the white board (it was also required that every shape would completely dry before any additional application). The pattern is made out of segments inspired from the “Flower of Life” symbol, that makes reference to the interconnectivity and belonging to Oneness, as well as to the existence of “something” where we “only” perceive air (I’m paraphrasing, without being aware of the source of a theory that at some point made me think, and still makes me smile: if we were to ask a fish from an aquarium its opinion about water, it would probably ask: “What water?”).
Created with the intention of opening windows through walls, these paintings represent 3 sibling trees, in different seasons. They were made by applying multiple layers of encaustic paint.
Each element, from grass blade to leaf, has been constructed with care, attention and patience, so that paintings that exceed the 2D plane could be created, and that also allow for a tactile experience (encaustic is a multisensorial friendly material, enduring to touch).
